Summer Salad in a Jar

One of our favorite ways of serving salad is in mason jars! It always adds a fun touch to the first course, rather than your typical plated salad.  Below, find the recipe to our mixed greens with lemon fennel vinaigrette.


Serves 4


  • 1/3lb Mixed Greens
  • 20ea Cherry Tomatoes (halved)
  • 4oz Toasted Sliced Natural Almonds
  • 4oz Golden Raisins
  • ½ ea Sliced Cucumber (hot house)
  • 6oz Pitted Kalmata Olives
  • 6oz Goat Cheese (crumbled)

Lemon Fennel Vinaigrette (makes 8oz)

  • 1oz Toasted Fennel Seeds
  • 2oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 3oz Honey
  • 2oz Canola or Salad Oil
  • Salt Kosher – to taste
  • Fresh Ground Black Pepper – to taste
  • ½ ea Shallots
  • 1ea Garlic Clove


Process vinaigrette ingredients in the blender until completely smooth, (there should be no shallot, garlic, or fennel seed chunks) and adjust seasoning as needed.  Once all of your salad ingredients are in the jar, drizzle with vinaigrette and serve! You can also pour the vinaigrette into a cruet and have guests dress their salads to their liking.
