REAL WEDDING: Harry Potter Wedding at the Hollywood Castle

We solemnly swear we are up to no good with this absolutely stunning Harry Potter-inspired wedding. Guests showed up donning their favorite house attire (and even some death eaters in the mix), sipped on potions during cocktail hour, and had chocolate frogs as favors at each place setting. Cindy and Matt showcased their love for the wizarding world while being ultra fashionable and providing an epic guest experience.

Sometimes the magic just fits – Photographer Nirav Patel matched the vibe of the wedding seamlessly and captured these magical images of the day:

You may have seen them over on Martha Stewart Weddings, BuzzFeed, or Huffington Post. If not, maybe Pop Sugar or Refinery 29 caught your fancy!

Kudos to this epic crew of vendors for all the magic:

California Love: The Golden State of Mind

We have had the exceptional honor year after year to create and submit a food-centric spread to our friends at Ceremony Magazine. This year’s submission was inspired by California Love, with both design and menus inspired by local California produce. With statement pieces from Found and stunning florals from The Bloom of Time, our favorite part of the shoot was the “edible arrangements,” made up of edible produce of vibrant fruits and vegetables, accented with fresh florals. We are delighted at our spread in Ceremony Magazine, and love this expression of  our Golden State of Mind. Enjoy!

As a holiday centered around great food and drink, we wanted to offer some alternatives to dyeing your beer green and adding food coloring to everything. We shared a couple of our favorite recipes up on IBT + Pop Sugar for you to make at home. This spread is as good as gold!

The Art of Setting a Table

If you’ve ever watched the opening sequence of Chef’s Table, you know that setting a table is an orchestrated art. (If you haven’t, it’s available on Netflix, and you’re welcome ;)

Yes, the back of the house is undoubtedly where the magic happens, but the place setting is the guest’s first impression, and thus, equally important. There are a lot of nuisances on a table setting that vary depending on the situation (restaurants, bistros, catering), but today we’d like to take you behind our scenes and approach this from a wedding and event stand point.

All of our in-house staff is trained to follow this little cheat sheet:

Cheat Sheet

Helpful hints:

  • Table setting varies from event to event based on the menu (i.e. most fine-dining menus require an extra knife – one for salad, one for entrée. Most menus do not require any spoons unless they have coffee service).
  • All flatware needs to be placed 1 inch from the edge of the table.  It must be polished and clear of any spots.

These hints are great for hosting at home, setting up photo shoots, or just being one step ahead of your other A-type personality friends. When you book with 24 carrots catering, we’re happy to arrange dinnerware rentals on your behalf – you don’t have to worry about counts, setting up, or cleaning up. Some clients choose to arrange their own rentals themselves or use their wedding planner for this task. We love collaboration and are happy to assist with guidance on table setting rentals based upon your menu (such as sizes appropriate for service, quantities, and padding). Please don’t hesitate to ask us for help!

If you’re interested in learning more, 24 carrots is honored to be a part of LVL Academy this year, expanding on “Table Top How To’s”. More information and registration here:

Happy place-setting!

Franciscan Gardens Bridal Shower Inspiration

Franciscan Gardens is our intimate Spanish-style venue in the heart of old town San Juan Capistrano. We host about 120 weddings a year in this romantic space, and countless other occasions. With lush green backdrops and bistro lighting to complete the al fresco atmosphere, it’s the perfect space to have an event.

For some bridal shower inspiration, this shoot was featured on Style Me Pretty, with dreamy shots photographed and styled by Kim Le Photography: “In collaboration with ME Weddings and Morning Lavender Boutique, we wanted to come up with a bridal shower inspired look that matched the sweetness of spring, the romance of weddings and the joy of bridal showers.” Too sweet not to share!
